HUGE NEWS!

This is an email the Violence Prevention team received this afternoon. This piece of legislation is a giant step for our movement and going to help provide an avenue for reaching youth. Please see below and stay tuned for more information/developments.

Greetings Prevention Advocates,

This year the Florida Legislature passed CS/HB 467 which provides that comprehensive health education taught in public schools shall include components on teen dating violence & abuse for students in grades 7 through 12, requires district school boards to adopt & implement dating violence & abuse policy, requires DOE to develop model a policy, and requires school personnel training. See the links below for the final bill and staff analysis.  This is a very exciting step forward for teen dating violence prevention work statewide! The Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence will be reaching out to the FL Department of Education to discuss implementation.
